Professor Ferdinand Porsche Prize 2019 for MEKRA Lang

Honoring of the partnership performance for the digital mirror replacement system

On October 11, 2019, the Professor Ferdinand Porsche Prize of the Vienna University of Technology was presented to Professor Dr. Uwe Baake, Head of Product Development, Mercedes-Benz Truck and Dr. Werner Lang, Managing Director of MEKRA Lang GmbH & Co. KG.

This award recognizes the development of our customer’s unique electronic camera-based rear-view mirror system (intelligent cameras from MEKRA Lang, monitors from Bosch). The digital mirror replacement system known as „MirrorCam“ has already been installed as standard in the Mercedes Truck model „Actros“ and revolutionizes the topic of safety in traffic.

In cooperation with MEKRA Lang, Solectrix was instrumental in the development and joins its customer in celebrating this award. It is one of the highest-endowed awards for pioneering research and development achievements in the field of automotive technology and it is awarded every two years.

Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG, honors the work of all those involved in this project: „Your commitment is a role model for other developers“. Dr. Lang (MEKRA Lang) subsequently excplicitly thanked solectrix GmbH: „Putting an innovation such as this into series production requires courage and a lot of effort and (almost inhuman) commitment“.
