Coming soon: New proFRAME camera adapters camAD3 QUAD VS775s for ASA Motion Link
The proFRAME camera adapter family is growing: two new adapters will soon be available which support the ASA Motion Link standard and can be used for video capture, video capture/TAP as well as for video replay. The adapters are compatible with the proFRAME 3.0 Base Board (all form factors).
The ASA Motion Link (ASA-ML) standard for in-vehicle connectivity, launched by the Automotive SerDes Alliance in 2019, addresses a similar field of application to the established GMSL and FPD-Link technologies. The focus is on the asymmetric transmission of CSI-2 video data and control information (I2C, GPIO) between cameras or displays and control devices. In the downlink, ASA-ML achieves according to own information data rates of up to 16 Gbit/s with cable lengths of up to max. 15 m for coaxial cables or 10 m for SDP (Shielded Differential Pair).
With the new proFRAME adapters, Solectrix, itself a member of the Alliance, offers its customers the opportunity to validate video-based ADAS/AD driving functions and infotainment applications that use the ASA-ML standard with the proFRAME.
The camera adapters are each equipped with four (de)serializer chips of type VS775s (Microchip), which can be operated in both transmit and receive mode. Solectrix will offer the adapters in two variants: with the camAD3 QUAD VS775s 4xIN, up to four CSI-2 video data streams can be captured (capture mode). The camAD3 QUAD VS775s 2xIN/2xOUT variant allows the capture of up to two CSI-2 video data streams in so-called tap mode (“Test Access Point”, aka “data pass through”). The playback of up to two CSI-2 video data streams is also possible, for example for HiL applications.
In addition to the power supply to the connected cameras via the coaxial cable (“Power over Coax”, PoC), sideband/backchannel communication (I2C) is also supported for the exchange of initialization sequences and control signals.
