New camera adapter camAD3 DUAL TI971/9702 for FPD-Link IV

The new camAD3 DUAL TI971/9702 camera adapter for FPD-Link IV, which can be used for video capture, video capture/TAP and video replay, is now available. The adapter is compatible with the proFRAME 3.0 Base Board (all form factors).

FPD-Link IV is used particularly in the automotive environment for the realization of video-based ADAS/AD driving functions, as well as for entertainment and infotainment systems. This technology may also be used in industrial applications (e.g. automated optical quality control systems) and in medical technology (e.g. diagnostic imaging devices).

The camAD3 DUAL TI971/9702 has two DS90UB971-Q1 FPD-Link IV serializers on the transmitting side and one DS90UB9702-Q1 FPD-Link IV deserializer on the receiving side, as well as four Rosenberger FAKRA connectors, two each for video input and video output. This means that two video streams can be captured – depending on the application also in TAP mode (“test access point”, aka “pass through”) – or replayed. In addition to the power supply of the connected cameras via the coaxial cable (“Power over Coax”, PoC), sideband/backchannel communication (I2C) is also supported for the exchange of initialization sequences and control signals.
